First walk in Luxor

After a meal we decide to take our first walk trough Luxor in the burning sun. On the quay the Egyptians try to persuade us to drive with their taxis or their carriage after we came from the bazaars. But we just want to have a look on the temple of luxor on the other side of the street. Afterwards we want to walk along the promenade to the excavations of the “Avenue of the Sphinx”. After a while we could dispose of our follower.

It didn’t take long, till we had sweat on our front! In addition we were very very thirsty. Having finished our tour of the Ramses-pylon and the lotus-pillars of the temple of luxor we just want to have a cold coke. But before we drink a coke we want to find the place of the carriages we had seen from our bus.
Afterwards we meet a young boy, as we turn off the quay, who would like to bring us to one of the most beautiful bazars in luxor. We say  “no” but he is not interested in what we say, he just says “liars” as we recognize the wrong way and go back to the Nile.

Annette in Luxor

Three young Egyptian women with headscarfs face us more friendly. Although I thought that they weren't aloud to look at other men. In fact they the eyeball me before they produce a sharp warbling. "I'll be damned!" I hear Annette shout out. But then it's over and a few moments later we enjoy a lifesaving coke in the next café.

From the café it are only a few metres to the ram sphinxes. Once the three kilometres long ally led from the temple in Luxor to the tenth pylon of the temple of Karnak. If the early procession street can be used again once we don't know. What we know is that the archaeologists still have to do a lot – some parts are even utter cropped. But we got enough of the heat and are happy to return to the ship with the next taxi.
