Hurghada

Most of the people who visit Egypt come across the name "Hurghada". Those  who do not land there have at least already heard about the former fishing  village at the Red Sea.
However, the vacation resort is not a beautiful place any more : the nearby  coral reefs have been destroyed. Furthermore, there is much rubbish and  rubble on the side of the streets and numerous buildings which are in ruins  contribute to the dusty image of Hurghada.
But the native inhabitants won't share your opinion.

Mosque of Hurghada

"In 20 years everything will be finished", our tour guide promises. Does  this mean that you should wait 20 years before visiting Hurghada? Actually,  it is ordinary that it takes a long time until the building of hotels and  blocks of flats is finished. They say that they will go on building when the  constructor has enough money. But is it true? Locally, you will get another opinion. Hotel Sheraton is a good example. The hotel is a rotunda which  shall be restored as fast as possible - the building has been stopped in the beginning of the 20th century (!!!) because of a big earthquake.
Another problem of the image of the town results from a typical Egyptian  mannerism. Most of the money is spent for the inside of the house. How the  house looks from outside is not of importance, because people may think that  they want to show-off. Furthermore, housebreakers might get attracted.

Dockyard of Hurghada
they can already swim

For the visitor, who wants to enjoy jauntily his holidays in one of the small bays, this means: eyes wide shut, respectively to concentrate exclusively on the started goals during a city tour.
Thus it is possible to endure the conditions in the first goal of our tour, a small restaurant, in which a few important personalities have already eaten. Also the mosque is positively an attendance worth. However, the boatyard from Hurghada offers a multicoloured mixture from wrecks, freshly refurbished yachts and yachts in progress.
The aquarium of the city is in addition a little spectacular. But if someone is already there, one can definitely stay a few minutes therein.
