Enough of wailing! We are back in Luxor. On no account we want to miss the chance of a visit of the temple. Even before the huge entrance-pylon we arrived the obelisk Ramses II. Originally there were two obelisks, but the other one was carried to the Place de la Concorde in Paris by the French in 1836, where it stands exactly on the axis between the Louvre and the Triumphal Arch. However, the two sitting statues of Ramses are preserved. Ramses II also had the pylon behind erected and decorated with portrayals of the battle of Kadesch. According to the legend, Ramses, let down by his soldiers, put the Hethiters to flight sole with the help of his divine father Amun.
