The garden has yet been the most beautiful place, because it was cultivated. And the pool was also nice and actually large enough for the small hotel. The pool was always very clean when we spent our time there and many gardeners were always occupied with looking after the various plants around the pool.

However, the small bay was very unfruitful. There we could walk on the sand for some meters but not more. In addition, on both sides of the tiny bay there were great landing stages for boats. As a consequence you could neither go swimming nor snorkelling. Corals and nice fishes are goods in short supply. But there are enough comfortable recumbence and sunshades at the beach, so that everyone gets a little place easily. The bath towels were all right. But on the beach the music of the animators was a bit annoying.

Lobby and the general hotel arrangement

By a stair you can get from the garden to the lobby. The lobby is low, has many seats, which are outworn but nevertheless comfortable. But there it isn't really beautiful. The reception is quiet large and it is the only thing that is more or less well organized at Safir.

Right next to the reception is the telephone room. Although every room has a phone, you can only phone in the hotel. If you want to phone somewhere else, you have to go to the telephone man. Unfortunately nobody has ever explained the numbers to him ( not to mention correct typing ). So we wanted to phone our organizer for our trips and gave the phone man a sheet with the number on it. He just stated typing, but completely different number. There was no connection to it and he claimed that this number would not exist. Only with the forth attempt and when we slowly started to get impatient, he succeeded in dialling the right number.

In exchange the guards at the entrance take their jobs serious. You get into the lobby through a revolving door and just after it you should let x-ray yourself, because somebody could carry wrong unwanted with him. But I did not go through it once and it did not interest anybody. There were also guests who were nagged by the guards, because they brought their own beverages, but that also did not happen to us.

From the outside the hotel isn't worth a mentioning. To be honest, I was shocked a bit, as we stand in front of the door for the first time. It doesn't seem to be very beautiful, it's some kind of run down. If we take a look on the garden, they are aware that some restoration has to be done. The exterior view doesn't care anyone. The entrance is bearable but the side view is miserable. If you cross the street, you get to an bungalow installation. From distance it's looking well-tended, but we didn't inspect it in detail.

possibilities for shopping

It is possible to buy something in the hotel. At least some drugstore-products and of course souvenirs like papyrus, perfume, smug and other trash. The small shopping street seems to be nice but we didn't use it. The old city is not very far away and you have a better assortment there and the prices there are of course much cheaper. Besides, the Marriot hotel offers shopping possibilities. Amongst other things a pharmacy, where we bought several products, because medicine is very cheap there, even when they are made of the known pharmaceutical industries.
