Shortly before Esna the boat becomes more slowly. Because there was no boat behind us being fast would have meant to wait longer. In summer there isn't even half as much traffic on the Nile then in winter. But the sluice is so slow that also with less traffic you have to wait some hours. To make waiting time shorter they began to build a new Watergate next to the other. But it looks like the work wears on because of the rocky ground.

Esna the minaret of the mosque of Esna

In the moment the cruising ships arrive the Watergate they are attacked by traders. With their rowboats they get very close to the SHIP Solaris before they finally throw some sacks of clothes on the deck. Some travelers draw back, others are amused about the thought of making a deal on this way.
When I'm thinking loud if this could be a red herring for there fellows to infiltrate the rooms unknown over the balconies some people walk down to their rooms.

there we have to go by
Dam

The opinion that the traders behavior is exorbitant I don't share. I start thinking that this might be the only alternative to earn some Egypt pounds or euros for these men to feed their families. And worse than buying something for the galapscha-evening by them is the fact that this evening is only invented for the board boutique to sell their galapscha-garments.

also here it becomes narrow for the boats Galapscha evening aboard the HS Solaris
