Not as in Edfu we will pass two more nights in here. Enough time to organize a trip to Abu Simbel. However the bus ride took four to five hours, so that we already had to stand up at three o’clock the next morning. The monument, which Ramses built at the formerly third cataract in honour of his wife Neferati as well as a determent of hostile tribes of Nubia, indeed is to be counted as one of the highlights of an Egypt – journey. But the Temple of Philae, the Island Elephantine and the botanical garden on the Kitchener Island are also worth to be visited – and all of them are located close to a taxi rank. A good reason for us to resign a nine hours – long bus ride.
