Windhoek I

Hut settlement
Hut settlement in Windhoek

To be honest, Windhoek hasn’t much going for it. Most of the sights you can visit in a very short time, and then you can actually only go shopping. Instead of the two nights we spend here, one would have been enough. We would prefer to stay a day longer somewhere else, maybe in Swakopmund to jaunt Sandwich Harbour or Walvis Bay beside the town or to hike onto the Waterberg Plateau.

But so we arrive in Windhoek in the evening, but Sidney has to place one point of the program already on the next day; because actually we should insert a stop at the market of manufacturers in Okahandja. Due of the indirection over the Waterberg Plateau it is already dark and the shops are closed as we arrive. Because the market is one hour away from Windhoek and there aren’t also other things to buy than on the markets in the capitol, we finally pass on to drive back on the following day.
