Safari by the Kalahari

now it goes on to the safari
Springbok antelopes

Then it goes one after the other: Springbok on the right, springbok on the left, Oryx ahead. Unfortunately, besides, the nice Oryx antelopes (also Gemsbock called) have the bad habit to run away always quite slowly from one. Indeed, they look now and again bake to make sure to that we remain on distance, however, they turn most time towards us their back. As a consequence we call them soon "arse antelope".

With pleasure I would have seen gnus. However, even if it gives in the Kalahari and at the Anib Lodge, we can discover on the whole drive, unfortunately, none. Well, I had not really expect it anyhow.
Instead, ostriches run now and again through the picture. With their long legs and the round body they have an effect on the first sight like a bush which does not fit in the scenery.
Also they are quite usual in Namibia. We are inspired!

In the end, we have luck and discover Oryx antelopes which grazes in the slope of a small hilltop. Instead of clearing out, they look over and over again to us. Often they pause in it still. Apparently they see in us no danger, so that we can marvel the herd in rest. At least, godfather should have stood the Oryx with the creation of the splendid unicorn. Who sees their long drawn horns, knows why.
