Zebras in Etosha National Park

Zebra
big herd of zebras glide by the Etosha-national park
recumbent zebra

We had to wait the hell of lot of time until we could finally have a close look at a zebra in Namibia.
While we were more than happy on our first day in the Etosha National Park, that it worked out, the question on the second day was, whether Jayjay shall really stop just because of a few zebras beneath the street or not.

Burchell's zebras (Equus quagga burchelli)
in contrast to the mountain zebras the Burchell zebras have grey shades between the black stripes

Of course he shall stop. At least we did not just want to see zebras for just a little while, we wanted to see them from the side, small zebras, big zebras, zebras from the back (Aren't that just wonderful crossed thighs?), zebras while grazing, zebras in the savannah, zebras in the thicket, zebras at the waterhole. The only thing we missed was a zebra with a lion in the neck. That is really one thing you don't hope to happen as a tourist. Alive they are just much more beautiful.
