Elephants |
After having seen a group of gnus far away, we arrive in Okaukweejo. And there something happens that is hard to believe: After some members of our group had gone to the toilet just right to the beginning of the tour, the toilet seems to be again the most interesting attraction of the stop. But we wanted to see something! So we decided to run in a small group to the water tower of the camp.

Although we hoped to see some giraffes out in the savannah we didn't see any. But we enjoyed that we have been able to get a bit of sports again and we enjoyed the wind that blew over the camp and the hotel Okaukweejo resort as well as the beautiful view we had of it.

When we arrived at the second water hole, the so called Olifantsbad, we had luck again because we could watch as many elephants as we wanted to. In addition there are - as everywhere in Namibia - some springboks and a lonesome gnu. Two zebras joined them while we are all busy with making movies and taking photos of the elephants, some giraffes walk on by from the other side to the water hole. But the giraffes are not the main attraction. At least they are not the main attraction while the elephants are drinking water and while there are two springboks fighting behind the big grey animals.

If you want to watch an elephant in the savannah from near by, you need more luck as if you ant to see one beside a water hole. We had that luck at five o'clock, three hours after our arrival at Etosha.
But at first we go to a water hole where you can see some lions if you are lucky …
