Travelogue Costa Rica

Second trip to the National Park

At low tide you need not a boat.

Fortunately, the last day of our Costa Rica - journey, the sun shines again. That way, the numerous fruits for breakfast taste much better.
After we have packed our bags and have been ready for our departure, we drive for a second time to the National Park Manuel Antonio.
The water-level today, is much lower, so that one boat is enough to cross the stream. Like most of the other holidaymakers, we chose the alternative for free over the beach.

Jatoba (Hymenaea courbaril)

As we are entering the region of the capuchin apes, Annette recognises a racoon. We saw it running away by our first visit. But right now it is walking over to us respectively to a trash can that stands at the wayside. As it reached the can, it lifts its leg and behaves almost like a dog. But then it kicks against it with its back paw, stems against the ground and overthrows the can. As the cover roles rattling to the side, the racoon controls the input of the can. After it finds nothing useful to eat, it kicks a second time against the can and walks then onward the beach.

We are really proud as Annette discovers later an active sloth which is slowly brachiating through the branches. It is only a pity that a guide follows us soon and cries loud to his group what here is to see before he informs the other guides. That is really an evidence for: To discover animals by Manuel Antonio is blindingly easy. But to observe them calmly is almost not possible. The visit of the park is worth it. Because there are comparatively little alternatives, we will drive rather to other national parks by a possible second journey.
