Playa Sámara

Road to the beach
Road to the beach of Samara

Flower power-music, guys with Rasta curls, mothers wearing casual and colourful clothes and a sheriff, who has his office directly at the beach that is Playa Sámara. A place like a relic from the time of the hippies. Here you can buy or borrow jewellery made of shells and pearls, light cloths in all colours, but also bicycles and hammocks. A boat trip to the dolphins and whales or to the small offshore island? You can rent all, we can arrange everything. Playa Sámara lives by the tourism and the habitants live the tourism.

Thirsty?

And still Playa Sámara is very quiet. We can see cows on the street and Costa-Rica-squirrels darting from tree to tree over telephone and electric cables. From time to time we hear parakeets caw above our heads. As I finally succeed in taking pictures of two of them, we immediately know: This is a place of love. But as well a place of cocktails, fresh fruit milk and yoghourt shakes. Whether you want banana, mango or papaya, everything goes with the mixer, everything is tasty.

While the beach attracts with the topas, the little restaurants with low prices, the restaurant behind the internet café attracts with pure indulgence. What, Red Snappers are out of stock? Well then we take a pan with seafood.  It doesn't matter as long as it's delicious! Three days we let ourselves go there, take short walks trough the village and long ones along the sea. Here we can relax, we let our hired car just stand, tank up with sun and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.
