Transfer to Guapiles

After three nights on the “Turtle Beach Lodge” we drive with another group back to Guapiles. During the way we have luck. In contrast to the people, who arrived with us and went back the day before in pouring rain, we have beautiful weather – the sun is shining. There is low water, so a covered, higher boat takes our luggage back to the continent. Now it’s not necessary to bag up our case and bags, as it was on the way to the lodge.

Jetty of Marlodge

After looking for the Caiman for one last time, we are again lucky to get a seat right in the front of the coach, with which we experience the next wonderful trip through the rainforest and the national park of Tortuguero.
Again, we watch iguanas on top of dead tree’s crowns, pass by several water birds, palm trees and trees, cross the large channel of Tortuguero and travel finally on the alternative route among fields and plantations.

Ride through the channel landscape
the water is still very high

Arriving at the alternative quay I wonder why we’ve had to carry our luggage that far, outward bound. Now the coaches are suddenly able to reach the quay very close, so there are just a few meters left to walk there from the luggage boat. This time everything is admittedly stowed on top of the car, carefully covered by a tarpaulin. And not without any reason- right after a few kilometres the first heavy rain shower is pouring down on our roof.

Sloth on a line

Afterwards we had luck for the third time: a Two-toed sloth is moving along a power or telephone line and therefore absolutely free to watch. And even if all the others are blocking my view with their cameras, so I am able to await patiently the moment when the sloth will shortly hang down in full...
Herewith all my luck is gone due to the fact that finally all clouds were showing up and we had rain all along the tour to Guapiles. Arriving at the restaurant Selva Tropical we were welcomed from such a heavy rainfall, that the personal needed to accommodate us with umbrellas.
