For the continuation of our journey through the Cordillera de Tilarán the travelogue promised that the road is as bad as always. How true! Soon after we left Santa Elena, we had to drive over a dirtroad. At least the stones weren’t as big as at the outward journey, that is why we get along very easily or that we had time for more stops for enjoying the beautiful landscape (and the strong winds).
As more as we come downhill, it becomes sensible warmer. At the same time the clouds dissolve, so that we have not only a gorgeous world of mountains in front of us, but also a great play of light and shadows attending us in the early morning sun. The colours of the forests and meadow are also fantastic! We nearly bemoan it as the dirtroad previous to Las Juntas leaded us to the lowlands and we found us again on a normal road.
After Las Juntas we are really surprised about the Pan-American. It’s the most important connection between the South and the North of America, so we imagined it’s broadly based and run down.
But in real we are driving on an indeed well constructed street, which is not overstrained by Trucks but instead shadowed by several trees. Later we come to know that we departed at the perfect time. Many Trucks are loaded in the morning. And the few ones, which are on their way in the early morning, can be overtaken...
