Hotel Arenal Oasis |
From Guapiles we continued with a hired jeep. According to the travel guide the vehicle should be already ready for us. Unfortunately - not according the voucher we received upon arrival in Costa Rica. Therefore we had to wait for one hour after lunch at the Selva Tropical, when finally our Jeep arrived at two o’ clock. By the way – in principle I expected already in advance that our car will be made available.
The size of the car would be great, but when I go in the cars direction I suddenly realise `Oh, there is a young women inside. It was obvious: No matter how I behave it would be false. So I ask, if she came from “National Car Rental” and take her after her answer “I hope so” to Annette at the table. But she is from “Adobe” and hadn’t got a jeep for us. Annette then smiled the whole time and said, minutes later: “This is typical. My husband is shortly without anyone and he has the most beautiful Tica with him.
As we finally got our Jeep, we drove to La Fortuna and to the foot of the Vulcan area. Unfortunately it’s raining the most time, so that we hadn’t any ambitions tos top for some photos. There wasn’t much to see anyway, just some plantations, rivers and villages.
Because of the late departure (14.30) we reached the hotel area oasis at nightfall. The Vulcan is not in sight, even through we went straight to get there. The reception in the hotel is nice and uncomplicated. So it is not taking long until I drive to our bungalow (No. 2) and stop beside it.
The bungalow only consists of one apartment. Indoors two ample beds expect us (= one of it is for our clothes), the bathroom is clean, the shower is ample and –very important- there are windows. You are able to crowd back the windows- it is very similar to a blind. The terrace is also very nice, which invites you to relax with two rocking chairs and where we eat our cookies we brought in the afternoon (after hiking with them for hours).
Close to our hotel starts a circular path through the neighbouring forest. The family who own the hotel has created a couple of terrariums as well as a stream with a pond. On the face of it a refuge for butterflies should be built.
Because of darkness and the rain we run only quickly through and then we go into the small restaurant of the hotel (yes, everything here is just small but beautiful, pretty, comfortable…)
Because of only a few guests everything is fresh prepared. That means: reservation is an advantage. Freshly showered we have to wait although a few minutes for our food. But that is okay because everything is nicely furnished and friendly. Quite apart from the fact that we firstly have to look what kind of program we planned for the next day.
